Careers & Work Experience
Our Commitment
Artemis College is committed to providing high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) that supports every learner to progress into higher education, employment, or professional training within the creative industries. We are proud to align our careers provision with the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Career Guidance and the requirements set out by Big Creative Training (BCT), our awarding and subcontracting partner.
Careers Leadership
Our designated Careers Lead is Rosie Hill, Head of College, who oversees the UCAS and university application process and ensures that all learners receive tailored careers guidance. She is supported by Sam Spencer-Lane, who specialises in drama school preparation, audition technique and application materials, with the wider teaching team offering one-to-one guidance in developing audition and showcase content.
Structure and Governance
The careers programme is jointly overseen by Rosie Hill and Sam Spencer-Lane, who respond to changes in the performing arts and education sectors to ensure the programme remains current and effective. It is reviewed annually, with input from visiting universities, employers, and the Big Creative careers team. This ensures that all learners are supported by a stable and relevant careers framework.
Our Careers Programme
Our careers programme provides a structured, ongoing experience across the two-year course, incorporating:
One-to-one careers guidance for every learner, beginning in the final term of Year 1 and continuing throughout Year 2.
A dedicated unit on audition preparation, enabling students to explore progression routes, professional expectations, and self-promotion.
Work experience placements primarily based at our partner venue, South Hill Park, where learners gain hands-on experience in performance, technical, and front-of-house roles.
Regular visiting workshops and talks from universities and drama schools offering insight into degree-level study, auditions, and creative careers.
Ongoing support from industry professionals through rehearsals, productions, and performance projects, ensuring that learners develop employability and transferable skills.
Progression and Outcomes
Progression is a key focus at Artemis College, and we are proud of our excellent destination rates into universities, drama schools, and professional work. Learner destinations are tracked annually, and outcomes are celebrated through our website and social media channels. This data informs future planning and helps us continually strengthen our guidance provision. You can find out more about our alumni destinations here.
Support for All Learners
Artemis College ensures that all learners receive the support they need to plan and progress confidently.
Additional support is available for vulnerable or SEND learners through our Pastoral Lead, Vikki Knapp, working closely with Rosie Hill to provide personalised pathways, accessible audition preparation, and mentoring throughout the course.
Partnership with Big Creative Training
As a subcontracted partner of Big Creative Training, Artemis College adopts the Gatsby-aligned careers strategy set out on their website: bigcreative.education/bct/bct-careers.
Learners benefit from BCT’s wider network of employers, advisers, and higher education partners, ensuring access to a broad range of careers support and progression opportunities.
Monitoring and Review
Our Careers and Work Experience provision is reviewed annually by the College Leadership Team, with feedback from students, staff, and external partners.
