Train to become a confident, skilled and professional cheer and gymnastics coach while gaining a nationally recognised qualification equivalent to three A Levels.

Our BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Coaching & Development (specialising in Cheer and Gymnastics Coaching) combines practical coaching, technical knowledge and leadership training. Over two years you’ll develop the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to coach in clubs, schools and community settings — or to progress to higher education and advanced BGU certifications.

This unique course is taught by experienced cheer and gymnastics professionals, and works in compliment to Building from the Ground Up (BGU), allowing you to work towards your BGU Level 1 Cheer Coaching Qualification alongside your BTEC studies.

What you’ll study

Learners explore the art and science of coaching through a mix of practical delivery, analysis and reflection. Core units include:

  • Developing Coaching Skills – Plan, deliver and evaluate practical coaching sessions.

  • Health, Wellbeing and Sport – Understand safe practice, injury prevention and athlete welfare.

  • Anatomy and Physiology – Learn how the body works to support athletic performance.

  • Advanced Coaching Leadership – Lead groups with confidence and professional communication.

  • Sport Development – Organise events and projects that encourage participation.

  • Self-Employment and Career Planning – Explore pathways in sport, fitness and performance coaching.

Every learner also completes a coaching placement through Platinum Artemis Cheer and partner organisations, gaining real-world experience with athletes across a range of ages and ability levels.
